Cadole Avalon

Set on the edge of our western Shiraz block, Cadole Avalon is an intimate studio retreat that puts you right among the vines.

Sitting at vine-canopy level, Avalon looks across rows of Shiraz and old-vine Grenache, creating a wonderful sense of being part of the vineyard rather than simply looking out over it.

Three outdoor decks give you a different place to sit as the day unfolds. Find the morning sun with coffee, retreat into the shade in the afternoon, or open a bottle of something local as the light softens over the vines.

Inside, Avalon is contemporary, beautifully considered and designed for two. Exceptional insulation creates a peaceful retreat in every season, complemented by a real wood fire in winter, air conditioning through summer and automated blockout blinds when you want to close the world out completely.

The bathroom continues the connection with the landscape. Open the louvres beside the rainwater-fed shower and enjoy the vineyard view from the privacy of your own retreat.

What is a Cadole?

A cadole is a small stone shelter traditionally found among vineyards in parts of France.

Built by vignerons using stone gathered from the surrounding land, these simple one-room structures provided shelter from the weather and a place to rest during long days working among the vines.

There is a beautiful simplicity to the idea: a small building with everything it needs and nothing it doesn’t.

Our Cadoles are a contemporary interpretation of that tradition. Refined, private and designed for modern comfort, they retain the original idea of a simple retreat with an intimate connection to the vineyard around it.
