Start with a beautiful 4WD trip overlooking a 600 million year old gorge boasting seemingly endless wilderness and incredible ancient geology, then head off for a tour of the d’Arenberg Cube including the celebrated Salvador Dali exhibition, followed by a premium red tasting some of d’Arenberg’s best single vineyard wines.
For lunch we’ll walk across to d’Arry’s Verandah, the original restaurant which is housed in a restored 19th century homestead, with spectacular views of rolling hills and vineyards. Enjoy an eight course degustation lunch at d’Arrys Verandah restaurant with each course matched to a different wine from the d’Arenberg Cellars. Established in 1996, d’Arrys Verandah is acclaimed as one of the very best in McLaren Vale. With a Chef Hat from the Australian Good Food Guide, and voted best restaurant in a winery in 2018, it focuses on delivering the best of local and seasonal produce complimented by the extensive d’Arenberg wine portfolio.
After lunch we’ll take a short drive to Bekkers Wine, where you’ll learn the secrets behind this most prestigious label. Enjoy a masterclass at the Bekkers estate with either Toby or Emmannuelle Bekkers. This celebrated winery was named as one of the top 6 wineries in the country in 2019 by Gourmet Traveller Wine, and recently was one of only a handful of wineries around the country to be awarded a 99 point score by James Halliday, for their 2018 Shiraz.
We’ll finish by journeying along the Fleurieu Peninsula coast finishing at an iconic local pub. We’ll tour its secret cellar where you can savour one of the region’s best wine collections, before heading back to The Vineyard.
